Peter Winters joined the VCU coaching staff as an assistant coach in March of 2020 following three seasons at Eastern Michigan.

Winters earned a full-time position with the Eagles after volunteering with the program. He was elevated to assistant coach in the fall of 2017. In that role, he helped guide EMU to 48 wins over three seasons while placing six players on All-MAC teams, 17 on All-Academic lists and one on an All-Region squad.

Winters began his volleyball coaching career as an assistant at Michigan-Dearborn for the 2014-15 season. There, he organized and maintained inventory of equipment, coordinated team meals, oversaw video operations and assisted the head coach with recruiting and talent evaluation.

Before entering the ranks of volleyball coaching, Winters was the Head Swim Coach and Assistant Pool Manager at Forestbrooke Athletic Club and a Development Coach at LumberJack Aquatics, accumulating more than five years of coaching experience.

Winters graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2013 with a degree in parks and recreation management.
